I'll admit I'm one of THOSE people who struggles with wanting to decorate for Christmas way before Thanksgiving. Hubby is fairly consistent with his insistence that the tree go up no earlier than the weekend after Thanksgiving. I spend the weeks before that preparing for decorating our home. I love Christmas- the smells, the decorations, the hot drinks, the yummy goodies, the presents, and the spirit of Christmas and its true meaning- celebrating the birth of Jesus. So back to the Christmas Shop........
Apple and I had the best time! We took our time studying the beautifully decorated Christmas trees, Christmas village, ornaments, lights, outside decor, stockings, and so much more! We oohed, aahed, and squealed over all the choices! My favorite item of all in the Christmas Shop was the beautiful green prelit tree that rotated. I could just imagine all my precious ornaments on it. We've done artificial trees in the past but we've had live trees the last few years. I have to admit that this year I wish we had a beautiful artificial like that one! Hubby's training will keep him busy right up through December so I haven't figured out when we will be able to cut a real tree. If we had the money in our budget I would've brought the above beauty home with me that day!
Apple really liked the Christmas village. We've never done one of those. Maybe in the future we will buy her a piece at a time to create her own. It would be lovely for her to build it over the years and then have it to decorate her own home someday. She also found one more item that she really liked......
I just had to laugh! My Grandma actually had one for her about that size when she was little but when baby brother came along Grandma had to get a more reasonable sized stocking for each of them. I asked Apple what she thought we would fill that up with.....she answered "EVERYTHING!" Luckily our stockings from last year will be just fine again this year!
We took our time in the Kmart Christmas Shop and relished in all the choices. I had a $15 gift card to spend for my Smiley360 mission and I wanted to choose carefully. I perused every aisle but I took extra time to look over the tree skirts, tree ornaments, wreaths, and Christmas tree lights. I wanted them all but I finally picked new LED lights. Many of our strands of Christmas lights had gone out when we were decorating last year. We spent a good amount of time changing out bulbs between strands. I will be so happy not to worry about that this year and for a long time to come! I'm also happy that our Christmas decorating won't put a big increase on our electric bill.
