David is one of the most fascinating people in history. His climb from a mere shepherd boy to a giant slayer to King is an amazing piece of history. Nancy I. Sanders series of biographies continues with Get to Know King David. Like Get to Know Jesus and Get to Know Apostle Paul this small, colorful book contains scripture, maps, fun facts, vocabulary, beautiful photos and works of art. That makes this a great book for your kids to read and to study! We love books that go the extra mile to teach our kids facts.
Chapter 1 tells us of David's youth as a shepherd boy.
Chapter 2 delves into David's time as a harp player in the king's court.
Chapter 3 retells David's defeat of Goliath.
Chapter 4 explored his friendship with Jonathan and the jealousy of King Saul.
As with the other books there are 12 chapters in all and an extensive resource section in the back of the book. The pieces of art, charts, and pictures of artifacts makes this so much more than a biography, this is a detailed history of King David including Biblical accounts and eyewitness accounts. I love that we are lining our homeschool shelves with these resources! I look forward to reviewing Get to Know Mary for you very soon.
